I've quite enjoyed reading some machine-translations. They're great
for entertainment value and really help if you are just missing the
understanding of a word or two, but otherwise not all that helpful.
Sometimes the subject of the panorama is quite obvious, but I agree
that many times it's really the caption that makes it. We've seen so
many wonderful images that now the story behind each one becomes
quite important. Not to mention how helpful text in a page is to our
ranking in search engines - that and links (please use the ability to
link to other sites - and put a link back to the World Wide Panorama).
I'd like to see every submission carry a caption. For the
international flavor of the project it would be nice to see many
different translations, but the primary language of the site is
English and a caption at least in English should be provided in the
future.
Many participants have contacted others in the past for help in
translation. Perhaps we should put together a list of those who feel
up to the task of helping translate between particular languages.
We'll look into this.
