The problem there is usually that you need to underexpose slightly,
but yep, rainbows and similar phenomena are notoriously difficult to
capture effectively. :-)
And with the flashing spectrums in running water, that's an
interesting observation. The camera captures a literal instant in
time, whereas we tend to use memory as well so that we remember
multiple ones as a kind of collective visual experience.
(I'm struggling to put this into words, but perhaps you get the gist.
A subtle but very interesting difference between mechanical and
experiential visualising.)
