+1 for JPEG
QTVR with other codecs are a challenge for alternate viewers. I don't
know if DevalVR has H.264. FreePV does not, and last time I tried them
none of the Flash based viewers could decode H.264 QTVR, but many of
them displayed nicely JPEG QTVR.
H.264 may eventually become standard, but for now it is not everywhere.
I just bought an AVCHD camcorder and it is hard to find software that
deals well with H.264/AVC
