Prefer Flash retroactive?

Did I miss something? Suddenly on the current WWP site, I see a
choice "Prefer Flash" on every entry, included all the events where
Flash wasn't yet an option. When I prefer Flash by clicking the
button, I get a blank space with a QuickTime controller bar.
Is there a plan to fix that? How about an "if" conditional statement
in the code that only shows "prefer flash" if there is a flash movie
to prefer.
Is it cylinders? No, I've tried previous works that are spheres and
they have the same behavior.
Personally, I'd very much like the option to upload Flash versions of
the QuickTime movies that are broken because the Flash track no
longer appears with the recent QT.
