wwp@yahoogroups.com: quo vadis WWP? CTR 2013-Feb-14 10:14:00
Hello!
Just a few thoughts:

1. Since there are some members oft he WWP-community who do not feel comfortable with Facebook, we could loose their valuable comments by moving the discussion there.

2. Adding a general comment function to each panorama could enhance the experience of a community. But the price is very high ? there are not only legal issues. One would have to moderate such contributions and one would have to implement spam filters. But one could add a function like "Comment to the Photographer" to each pano. This would be a kind of contact form to the author of the pano. The email-address of the author and the event and pano name could be sent by the program "behind the form" without disclosing the email-address to the public.

3. Personally I would like to have "Like Buttons" on the page of each pano. When I am linking new WWP-panos in Facebook, I can not choose a fingerprint of my pano as image. This can easily be overcome by adding the appropriate og-tags.

4. On my own webpage I am offering the panos both in flash and html5. The latter for users of iphones, ipads and the like. On my little page this is easy to do, but I do not know how much work and stress it would be to implement such a feature on the WWP-page.

5. Looking at the current webpages of WWP, I am still impressed by the functionality.

6. Looking at the current webpage of WWP, I would like to suggest some changes in design ? stronger focus on image elements. On a typical page like http://worldwidepanorama.org/worldwidepanorama/wwp612/index.html I love the element with the globe and the random panorama with the location indicator. That could be much more prominent if one would drop the width limitation.

But no matter in what direction the discussion on the future of the WWP goes ? it is great that it has started.
