Just a notice...
I have checked the traffic via link from www to my site this morning and something is realy going on since yesterday.... as my index url had measured every 100th visitor from WWW now every 20th visitor was from WWW... that is 5 times more than yesterday!
PS. my index url measure about 1000 unique visitors per day of about 50.000 unique visitors per day to 'sub urls' (visitors who don't enter via www.burger.si but via ww.burger.si/someotherlocation....)

The World Wide Panorama site (http://geoimages.berkeley.edu) was hit
with incredibly heavy traffic this morning, far exceeding what we have
seen before.
This resulted in the twin servers using 98% of available bandwidth on
our subnet of the campus network, essentially denying access to other
users. Since it is the last day of classes here, people need to use the
network, so I was ordered to temporarily shut the site down.
The network tech indicated the traffic was the result of publicity on
slashdot. Seems reasonable, but I couldn't find any mention on the
slashdot site. Maybe only subscribers see it? Couldn't find any other
new publicity either.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
The server will be started up again late this afternoon. Hate to miss
the traffic, but I must coexist with other users.
