I use a P4 2.4 GHz with 768 MB RAM.
Normaly I make pano's in 3 rows (so without nadir and zenith) of 12 photo's.
I use a standard Canon Powershot A75 with a selfmade panohead.

Stitcher 5 has problems with the sky hemisphere, so you probably have to 
do this by hand. Stitcher 5 only stitches photo's it can stitch, until 
now I didn't get any strange stitches.

I also love the Live Preview (Alt+L) function. During the 
stitchingprocess you can see a preview of the final spherical pano at 
the upperright of your screen.

I think that there will always be some hand-stitching, but the majority 
can be done with the autostitch function.
