Ya know? Bostjan,

Its my guess we all are weak for those words. ? after all, for most of us at least part of the goal is having our work appreciated. Im OK with that part, the part which always angers me is the people who deliberately takes advantage of the creative person for financial gain, knowing that they have no intention of paying for actual creative content. These are the slime, stealing and lying, and often even presenting them selves as the creative originators of ideas and designs.

Most of us will happily donate to something meaningful? the real issue is about respect.!

    Bo

Subject: ... and my story...

Let me say my story (as my comment to the "hot" mail from Germany...)... my web site is not commercial and I work with it at least 10 hours per day, 7 days per week. You can imagine that the rest of time is needed to earn for living, to run my personal non commercial projects, travel ...e.t.c... I have constant applications for my stuff - for free of course. My last donation for the cultural institution was for a display of panoramas in Royal Society in London last April, yes I was a fool again... as so many times before...why? Few years ago one (I won't mention the name) cultural institution asked me for my panos with the visualisations of churches and castles in Europe. They said that the use will be non commercial and educational. I said "o.k. I'll help you as it will free use for visitors and with the limited duration of the virtual exhibition with only the couple of months". They used my material, and after that I had forgotten about that... when I just by coincidence
found out that their exhibition was part of Culture 2000 (European found with the financial support of culture events) and that they received 940.000 ? (~ 1.35 M US$). As the majority of the presentation was actually my work I asked them why they didn't tell me that, and the reply was that the idea counts not the "work" (read "my" VR panoramas), which is just trivial (what is a pano stiching? - that is realy nothing)... as the project was over and I had agreed to participate, my only chance was to not donate any more... but I as had mentioned in the beginning, I was fool again recently...I cast can't resits to words - "free for visitors", non-commercial, educational, for children, e.t.c... :(
