Landis' gerbil heard the news, got loose on his keyboard, and had absolutely no idea what to say.
Pat was an amazing collaborator for the World Wide Panorama and of each of the participants as more than just photographers but as individuals.
I found out that Pat had passed away from all your emails as I downloaded them right before my trip home from my last training flight with my new airline. Pat was a huge supporter of my endeavor and teased me often about my wanting to stay in the airplane while he, as an avid skydiver, avoided ever landing with the pilot.
I've been away from the WWP for a bit while pursuing my new career but I'd been paying attention to the behind-the-scenes machinations where Pat would do everything he could to push the WWP when those of us who started it and participated early on had lost some of the energy to operate it as it deserved. Pat stepped up and stepped it up.
In that vein I'd definitely like to see us all step it up and participate in this upcoming event with Pat in mind. Pat wrote the essay for heritage and had some wonderful ideas and I think it would be fitting for us to honor the heritage he brought to the WWP by making this a record event in his honor. Please join me at this sad time and honor Pat with a panorama for heritage.
As he'd say: Let's get out there and shoot some panoramas!
