Hello All
I am sorry if I am out of line in saying this ...(& I am one on the
pre-order list for the book).....
but... I'll be glad to have the "commercial(s)" finally end...

I realize the content of the book fits in with "our" WWP group...
however if all the pros out there took advantage of posting
commercials, amateurs like myself & other list subscribers would have
to wade through so much more reading to find the true WWP topic content.
Is there a way of organizing topics (as in magazines) where commercial
advertisements could appear at the "end" of the message threads ....
or even a separate link/section for advertisements equipment/books/job
(search)/commercials/ etc.... separate nonprofit vs profit?

I sincerely apologize to all & especially Mr. Highton if I am being
rude with my comments.

.......... ------>
Shifting gears here...
How many of you viewed Steve Jobs keynote opening for the new iPad
intro?.....
During the (video) segment where he was into the demo of web browsing
and then got down into Google Maps??... he ended up on street level
and "started" to "spin-view" around !!! ???.... He even exclaimed
how cool it was !!...
In my mind it "flashed" how this new device, the iPad would be the
perfect tool to revolutionize (bring back) quicktime VR (or "any" VR)
as a viewer on this tablet.....
If you can already zoom down to street level in google Maps &
experience "some" vr effect(s) then what would a full immersive VR
player for the iPad do for our cause???....
Just imagine the portability to immerse "clients/individuals" into a
location on our planet and navigate around with the touch of your
fingers... 2 finger squeeze to zoom in & spread to zoom out....
I am certainly not a programmer .. however my imagination is leading
me to think/wish/dream for "someone" (if possible) to develop a new
"app" just for VR....
Could this bring quicktimeVR back from the brink?.... could someone
sit down & influence Steve Jobs by showing him some of the fantastic
work created on the WWP site.... has he ever even seen the site??....
if not at the "top" could someone he respects & has his "ear/eyes" be
shown & get the "vision" of possibility(s)... influence/talk
"them" (Apple) into saving their quicktimeVR baby from their bathwater??
And (although over my head) with the SDK available & open to new app
developers, is there someone out there who could do a "decent" viewer
for object & cubic/equi/sperical VR content that so many are producing??

just imagine .......an iPad
--in hospitals with QT "Object" VR of cat scans... orthopedic views,
blood vessel views, a tablet that drs & specialists can pass around &
manipulate in 3D
--in the hands of ecologists & naturalists with the gps capibility in
the field & ability to capture & view VR views of vernal --pools ...
old growth stands.... glacier receding... on & on...
...virtual field guides that can be viewed with object VR of the
organisms... (spin a bug around 360 to identify all parts)
--in the hands of real estate professionals with a "tour" of
prospective properties for clients
--and on .... & on....

There was a start to a msg thread somewhere back in the "digest" that
called for a discussion of future possible business opportunities for
VR.... how could such a device "fit" in?

These are just a few of my thoughts in the heat of excitement & I'd
appreciate what others thoughts/feelings about this may be? What
place in our Pre--- During --- Post VR workflow would such a device as
the iPad have/serve?
Jobs said it was a "better" way to present photos.... well certainly
why not VR "photos".... "duhhh".... is there anybody out there who
could "show/convince/influence" him of such an awesome use potential
as a VR viewer !!! ???

Thanks to all out there for their contributions & willingness to help
others "learn" & thank you for your time & thoughts of my "ramblings"
above
