I'm not a complete newbie, but I'll benefit from Roger's 9 steps too.

Only addition I would suggest is step 10:  You'll need to use cubic software such as 
PanoCube or CubicConverter to get the final product.  (Apple's MakeCubic is woefully 
sparse.)
