Re: stats for discussion

Well I know that my Elevation panoarama will not win anything - but I
still posted it... I unfortunately shot it freehand and found later I
took the photos using a horizontal orientation and one blurred -
d'oh! I almost gave up thinking it was impossible to stitch it - but
that made it more of a challenge - and after days of Photoshop
editing for parallex issues it worked. Is it perfect - no way - am I
proud of it - knowing the effort and time to make it work - sure. But
only I know the fun I had creating it and I'm ok with that.
My feedback on this topic however is this... I share with the WWP
because I want to. The "black hole" - yes - it would be nice to know
how many people may have viewed the panorama. I do get statistics
from my web provider on all referrals and from the WWP I will average
3-5 a week. This is from an average of 200-400 weekly visitors.
I always send email to outstanding WWP entrants and sometimes words
of encouragement to new people. I also enjoy viewing panorama
websites when links are provided.
Lastly on scoring - my local camera club found that using a scoring
system was counterproductive - as there will always be some people
for what ever motives, gave a zero (worst) ratings to alter
statistics. New members were discouraged by potential low scores. And
on leaving comments - it can get very ugly for administrators to
police vulgar entries or junk entries.
Looking forward to seeing all the Elevation entries.
