Thanks, but the problem is that there isn't a standard definition of how
to measure the coastline. It completely depends on the scale and
accuracy of the map used for the measurement. The result can be hundreds
or thousand times larger when a detailed map is used compared to a rough
overview.

There is a tendency for small countries (like Denmark) to measure the
coastline on detailed maps while large countries (like India and Brazil)
measure on coarse maps. This means that the official figures of all
countries, no matter small or large, will end up in about the same
range. The figures simply are not comparable.

If the length of a coastline is noted it should be followed by a
description of how it has been measured.
