adding sound

This wwp I have been telling myself I will add sound. I have been
looking at mp3 players but don't think most cut it when it comes to
sound recording. I have been looking at ones with a line in jack so I
could plug an external mic (not that I own a good mic).
Does anyone have any experience with the built in voice recording and
the line in recording of mp3 players?
I don't want to spend a whole lot of money because I will probably
replace it in a year with one with a huge hard drive. Then again I want
decent quality. I can not justify purchasing a voice recorder only but
by combining it with a mp3 player
my current idea is Samsung YP-MT6X 512MB MP3 Player. Any reason not to
go with this.
The next thing I will need is a tutorial to add sound. Directional
sound in the future but right now just ambient sound. I plan to
purchase and shoot tomorrow (today, :-( I need to get to bed ).
