I don't think Luis intended to speak for you. He respects your
copyright, I am sure. It seems to me that all he was doing was stating
why in his opinion participation in this ZKM project is positive.
Each and every one of us owns his copyrighted material, and permission
can only be granted by the owner. Every media producer knows that.
While the way this "ZKM Center for Art and Media" has approached us is
not optimal, their proposal has merits and deserves to be heard,
discussed, and probably revised, before any decision is made. It is
night now in Germany, Ayrton. Please be patient and give them time to react.
I hope somebody from ZKM senior enough to understand how copyright
permission works will join the World Wide Panorama mailing list and
makes us a clearer, complete and sensible proposal. Until that happen,
it is clear that they have no permission to do anything but
It is not yet the time to assert copyright the hard way, Ayrton, and I
hope that the "we assume your consent if we do not receive any comment
from your side" is a mistake. It is hard to believe that a "Center for
the Art and Media" is not aware of copyright regulations. If they really
do not, and they proceed without explicit permission, then it will be
the time to assert copyright the hard way.
I have not given permission to use my material and if they use it
without explicit, written permission from me, I'll take the necessary
steps to protect my copyrights.
