There is one aspect regarding the geographical distribution of the WWP-panoramas that has not been mentioned so far.
It has been mentioned by Don that the WWP-panos "will usually be taken near our participants live". This is the aspect of the density of population. It can explain, why there are so few panoramas taken near 6? 28' S, 67? 28' W or near 24? 52' N 13? 2' E.
Yet the density of population cannot explain why there are so few panoramas taken on the African Continent, not even near big cities. This is due to the unfair distribution of wealth and poverty on our planet. And Africa is just one example.
Just like any preceeding meeting of the world's ruling powers, the G8 / G20 summit in Canada completely failed to do something against this injustice. So, since we cannot expect decisive action from the politicians, it is up to us.
Some possibilities for each of us are:
- Support Oxfam (http://www.oxfam.org) or similar NGOs
- Buy products from Fair Trade (http:// www.wfto.com)
- There are many other initiatives, possibly some in your vicinity
- You might even get in contact with your local politicians
