Hi Walter
This technology is called CircleVision and is a disney process. It's
shot with 8-12 35mm movie cameras shooting into mirrors arranged in a
circle. Projection is similar. A good friend of mine worked on the
CircleVision film for Euro Disney that included an animation in 360
degrees. The animated part was shot with one camera on a computer
controlled head to index the multiple views and was set up in the
middle of the miniature set of Paris complete with with sunrises and
setting. He worked on this shot for over 8 weeks since most views had
animation of some sort going on with the interactive lighting.
Something similar is a lot easier these days as with Greg Downing's
panoramas projected onto a hemisphere with multiple projectors. I would
love to see both the EuroDisney show and Greg's Pano show. Greg's show
should be really cool since it's interactive and immersive.

Cheers
