wwp@yahoogroups.com:
The NEXT World Wide Panorama
G. Donald Bain 2005-Jan-21 22:12:00
We are now ready to start planning for the next World Wide Panorama.
It will be the fifth quarterly event, beginning a second year. In the
first year we had 371 participants submit a total of 682 panoramas for
the site. The Geo-Images server is reporting more than 130,000 hits per
day, with an average daily transfer of 9 gigabytes.
Landis and I had a chance to confer at the MacWorld Expo in San
Francsico two weeks ago, and we agreed on the next theme - Marketplace.
"Marketplace" was suggested last year, and there are some good examples
on the first WWP site. We feel it will offer many opportunities for
self expression and photographic excellence. It spans all cultures and
can be done indoors or outdoors, with lots of people or few people.
There are easy examples, and very challenging ones. Weather should not
be too much of a problem in northern climes, and we will all have 12
hours of day and 12 hours of night.
The dates for shooting will be March 17 through 20, 2005 - Thursday to
Sunday. March 20 is the Equinox for most of the globe.
Online submission (with Markus Altendorff's marvelous preparation
server) will begin Monday March 21 and continue until Wednesday March
30, giving you over a week to prepare. During this period participants
(only) will be able to view the site as it grows. The site will be
announced and publicly available April 1, 2005.
As before I have written a little essay on the theme, to give you some
ideas. It will follow in a separate e-mail, and is also on the site.

We look forward to another expression of diversity and talent in
Marketplace - A World Wide Panorama.
