> Good morning,

Thank you Landis.

I too thought that I would offer my thoughts regarding the participation in the WWP.

The themes are necessary to unify the group and to simply convey to the world what
it is that has been done. I believe that potential participants have to realize the range
of subjects within a particular theme. Not everybody wants to see another superstore
or open market or perfect weather.

If our schedules allow for our participation we should accept the challenge and
convey an aspect of our lives to the world. The biggest improvement for me was the
increase in the time allowed to shoot the subject. However, I have still only
participated in the original WWP event.

I too live in Canada and my village is quite small and quiet at this time of year.
However, I do not look upon this as a negative thing. I agree that the traditional vision
of a market place in our region may not be "open" yet because of the time of year but
this should viewed as a challenge not to merely convey what another superstore. We
have no superstores or fast food chains in my town.

Don describes the market place as:

"A marketplace is anywhere that people gather to exchange items of value. These
items can be durable or perishable, tangible or theoretical. The marketplace itself can
be built for that specific purpose, or traditional, or ephemeral."

Therefore, a market place could be just about any place where there is an exchange
between people. I was thinking that I might use my favourite local coffee shop where
the obvious exchange is coffee for cash. As well, there are ideas between patrons that
are networking. It could be advice that is given by an individual and appreciated by
the other - the individual is thanked or their coffee is bought for them. It can include
the individual that is on the net booking a local B&B. It can include the two guys
outside bumming smokes, it could include the art and the antiques on the walls that
are for sale,etc.

"Items" as defined by Don are exchanged continually and are almost always of some
value to someone.

Don also said:

"bridges can be anything that helps us to progress from one place to another,
spanning barriers and obstacles. There are social and cultural bridges, economic and
business bridges, emotional and psychological bridges."

I believe that the vast majority of the subjects were structural bridges to convey
people or vehicles from one place to another.

I encourage everyone to accept the challenge.

Discussion, such as within this group, is a great resource for participants.
