wwp@yahoogroups.com:
Nabble has nabbed our messages
Richard Crowest 2006-Jul-18 16:04:00
Amidst all the rather more important discussion, excuse me for asking
an unrelated question:
Does anybody know anything about a web site called Nabble, and why
it's set itself up as "an archive for the mailing list:
#removed# Messages posted here will be sent to this
mailing list".
http://www.nabble.com/World-Wide-Panorama-f15543.html
It seems to have copies of our messages from around the middle of
June. If you view the messages, each page has "(c) 2005-2006 Nabble,
Inc." in the footer, which strikes me as a heck of a cheek. The site
doesn't seem to have any connection with Yahoo, but does appear to
also have an archive of the PanoTools list going back to June of 2005.
Thankfully, individual email addresses don't seem to be available (at
least, not to unregistered browsers), but whereas you have to join
the Yahoo group to read the group's messages, they're available on
Nabble to all and sundry. Rather amusingly, in the site's terms of
use, it mentions that posts will be removed if they have "content
that infringes intellectual property rights". Well, they've infringed
mine by duplicating my messages in a publicly-accessible space
without so much as my knowledge, let alone my consent.
Presumably someone with access to the Yahoo group must have set up
this mirroring/archiving arrangement - Don, could it have been you
using your palm implant while under the influence of morphine?!
Richard
