wwp@yahoogroups.com: Canon 70-300mm or Sigma 70-300mm zoom lens Rick Drew 2007-Mar-15 01:44:00
I have the 70-200 f4 - just purchased it a month ago. On a tripod it's
fantastic. Handheld, at 200mm, it's a little tricky (I do a lot of ski
racing photos) - especially when tracking a fast moving target.

All the shots looked great in preview, but back home on the monitor, I was
surprised how many were out of focus. I learned to use manual focus and a
higher aperture. The auto focus is fast, but the cold effects the lens. It
was an average of 20 degrees Fahrenheit - wind gusts brought it down to -10
at times.

I opted to go with the L glass but could not afford the extra $$$ for the
image stabilization. The clarity and sharpness is amazing on properly
focused images :)

BTW - cleaning off my image sensor help a bit as well - those dust particles
really add up!
