That was changed at least a year ago

First of all Quicktime is NOT a viewer.
It is an environment for hundreds of media files.

The similar Java environment is  today 16mb
Windows (Offline Installation)
(filesize: 16.00 MB)

And it is not a standard installation on Windows ( but it is on Mac)

The max filesize you can show in Java is a 3400 pixels spherical  
which is not enough for good quality  in fullscreen.
And you need a super new computer for that.
