Thanks Paco for the words, I was trying to figure out how say that and
you gave me the start. :)
Like you, I think that the Globorama is interesting project and agree
when you sugest to give an open hand.
Yes, they acted wrong using our material without consent but now they
are on the right track and the whole WWP and its members would be
favored by associating with this project.
I have been seeing copyright infringement threads on different lists
which I'm in. This happened not once or twice but several times now and
as far as I know, on most of them the only ones that get something in
the end are the people stealing VRs, for example, that Russian site
(sorry, can't recall the address, and sorry, nothing against Russians
specifically).
Yuval's message just opened my eyes to Creative Commons licensing and
made me start think about changing the way I set rights of use on my
material from now on.
The Globorama project was launched with the wrong foot, concerning
respect to copyrighted work and the photographers themselves.
Consequence of the usual concept that "if it's on the net, then it's
free" (probably aggravated by a possible comprehension that they are
part of an "educational" project, thus "fair use") and it can't be
excused - BUT - they changed the approach. If it was because some/any
member of our group questioned them or not, *for me* it doesn't really
matter, what matters to me is that they changed their approach.
This an awesome project and I bet that under any indignation that he
might have felt, Willy "Holmes" must have been fascinated by it. At
least I would be.
Unless I'm being extremely naive and you guys convince me of that, I
intend to grant them permission to use my material.
Best regards for everyone.
