Yes thats just what I did. I have done it before in a church making a
recording of a russian childrens choir

The recording was made from the same place as the panorama and I just
used the built in microphones on the powerbook 17.
I just Audacity for recording and exported as a mp3.
The recording is 850 kb. I do not know what quality I used for this
one. It was my first.
I only had some problem when they sung some very loud tones.
Audacity has no automatic input adjusting and I had set the microphone
setting to highest output.
One thing thing you can do if you have an external microphone is this.
Start the audacity recording, put the powerbook in a bag, close it and
the recording stops,
You can now open it in the bag just a few mm and audiacity starts
recording, close it and it stops.
