Thank you Mickael for explaining your considerations to me.
What helps me finding a good starting point for downsampling, is looking
at the frequency plot of the audio file while playing (i use Cool Edit).
This gives me a good impression where important audio information can be
found.
E.g. the marketplace panorama's audio file shows that i cut off a lot of
"information" by downsampling (and i can also hear it).
